Do you know diabetes can be induced in rats for experimental purposes? Surprised? Diabetes mellitus, also known as type 2 diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes can be induced in a rat by depriving the rat of food for 12 hours, then injecting it with a dose of streptozotocin just under its skin. The blood sugar (glycemic) level of the rat is then tested 48 hours after its injection with streptozotocin. A hyperglycemic level, that is a blood glucose level greater than 140 mg/dl, implies the rat is diabetic. The rat can then be used for experimental purposes.

Hey,
Your blog starts with a question which’s positive. It attracts the reader's attention. The overall structure’s logical. I didn't have problems to understand what you meant and I've learned new things.
Grammatical: I think the first verb has to be in the past "Did you know...". I would change in the second sentence "...by depriving the rat of food..." into "...by depriving the rat its food...".
I would have said “…the rat is then tested 48 hours after injecting the streptozotocin…” instead of “…the rat is then tested 48 hours after its injection with streptozotocin…”.
The style’s good, it’s not too academic which is appropriate in a blog where everyone has to understand it. I think this is a great blog!

I agree with Duchan (excellent FB, Duchan!)
Good style, excellent zigzag pattern for your information distribution.
Add some good referring (this/it) and you end up with a good blog.
good job,
olaf
