'What have the Africans ever done for us?' wondered Swiss musician Stephan Eicher. His answer: They gave us the Matterhorn, Switzerland's most recognizable Alp peak. Afterall, if it weren't for plate tectonics, the Alps wouldn't be there in the first place. It's thanks to Africa as a whole slamming into Europe that mountain ranges like the Alps are thrust up. So as a tribute to Africa's role in Switzerland's geography, Eicher decided to create a stamp that is at once the famous silhouette of the Matterhorn, and the outline of the African continent. Beware when you tilt your head!

Interesting, captivating and informative blog. Why? Of course it has mother Africa as its subject!

I like the style, flow and more particularly, the introductory query.Although I must confess that I had to visit google to search for key terms like Helvetia and Matterhorn (my shortcoming perhaps?).

In all, I do appreciate your blog. But of course, it's not surprising!
